The unraveling of the Situational Awareness hedge fund has inspired comparisons with Long-Term Capital Management, a legendary hedge fund that failed in spectacular fashion in 1998.
Some on social media have been wont to compare the demise of Situational Awareness with LTCM, although it’s worth noting that this comparison only works to a point: The failure of LTCM in 1998 famously inspired the Federal Reserve to pull together a rescue plan.
